Just a quickie… In British politics there’s an idea of collective responsibility: once a policy is agreed in cabinet, members of the government are required to defend it even if they don’t agree with it personally[^1]. In Django we have similar. We try to reach decisions via consensus. Once that’s done, there’s a convention that you’ll support that, even if it didn’t quite go your way. The Django team is happy to announce the release of Django 4.2. This version has been designated as a long-term support (LTS) release, which means that security and data loss fixes will be applied for at least the next three years. It will also receive fixes for crashing bugs, major functionality bugs in newly-introduced features, and regressions from older versions of Django for the next eight months until December 2023. The week that was 2023 WK13. So, that’s it. I’m retired 🥳 — this week was my last as a Django Fellow. It’s been a great ride, and a massive honour. But now it’s time for other things. Everyone was very kind this week. Mariusz made me a cake. Others sent kind words. It was nice to wrap up in time for Django 4.2 next week.
